History of The Prescott Daily Courier
In 1864, Richard McCormick brought his printing press to Fort Whipple and established Prescott's first newspaper, known as The Miner. In 1867, he sold the publication to two men, Benjamin Weaver, and John Huguenot. In 1875, Marion sold The Miner. He then started up two different publications, the Enterprise, and the Arizonian. In 1882, he started up The Prescott Morning Courier. The offices were originally located on the second floor of the first County Courthouse located on North Cortez Street. After that they were moved to the Scopel Hotel. Following Marion's death in 1891, the Courier was taken over by E. A. Rogers. That paper would later become The Prescott Evening Courier, and eventually, The Prescott Daily Courier, as it is known today!
